A neighbouring community, not a city ward
Rockland is part of the City of Clarence-Rockland, a municipality that sits just outside Ottawa’s eastern boundary along the Ottawa River, not inside city limits. It is one of the region’s fastest-growing commuter towns, with a steady run of new-build subdivisions now spreading out from an older village core that has been there for generations. That mix matters on a demolition site. A teardown on a mature village lot, often with a smaller footprint and close-set neighbouring homes, calls for a different approach than clearing a lot in a newer subdivision phase where access and setbacks are more generous. Because Clarence-Rockland is its own municipality, permitting also follows its own process rather than the City of Ottawa’s building and Demolition Control by-laws. We handle jobs on both sides of that boundary and help you sort out what the Rockland municipal office will actually need before equipment shows up on site.
