Decades of housing stock, one careful assessment
Nepean’s older, established neighbourhoods, many with mature tree cover and mid-century construction, are exactly the kind of properties where a designated substances survey for asbestos and other hazardous materials belongs at the start of the project, not partway through it. Newer sections of Nepean built through the 1990s and 2000s carry less of that risk, but every property still falls under the same city rules: Ottawa requires a building permit to demolish or relocate an existing structure, and a residential demolition inside the mapped Area of Demolition Control may need the separate Demolition Control approval as well, currently a $1,206.84 city application fee. Merivale Road’s long commercial corridor also runs through Nepean, and we take on interior strip-outs and structural demolition for commercial units along it.
